French “business angel” Jeff Clavier is the founder and managing partner of SoftTech VC, one of the most active seed-stage investors in Web 2.O startups. Since 2004, he has invested in more than 20 consumer Internet companies developing new concepts or revisiting old ideas with new technologies. In 2007, he was recognized as one of the 13 “Web 2.0 King Makers,” by Business 2.0. A few minutes ago, he took a few moments to give us more details about his job.

The creator of Netvibes explained the changes in the new version of the website, which was announced many months ago and will be available for Netvibes’ 30 million users in January 2008.

Goojet: Startup Competition winner

So … the winner of the Web3 Startup Competition has been announced!goojet The prize goes to French startup GooJet (i.e. Good Gadjet). GooJet beat out around 120 other companies for the honour. GooJet has created different widgets for mobile phones, in order to give access to community services and tools.

GooJet is also a partner of the conference…

The startup announced three days ago that they raised 2.3 million euros from Partech International, Elaia Partners and IRDI.

The second and third prizes went to Plymedia and G.ho.st.

Vringo, videos on your mobile phone

portable “Personalization 2.0.” That’s how Jonathan Medved, CEO of Vringo, an Israeli compagny, describes the personalization of a mobile phone. According to him, a mobile phone is “an extension of your personality.” It is all about “expressing who you are.” Ringtones are one way of expressing your difference. But Vringo goes further with applications like videos, animations, photos and also avatars that can be added on a mobile phone. “The content will be projected in networks that will be shared with friends,” he explained.
