Twitter, since it was created a year and a half ago, it has experienced a huge success. When creator Evan Williams asked the audience who’s familiar with Twitter, nearly everyone raised his hand. Definitely a success, its founder describes Twitter as a web-based service on the web, but also on mobile. “It’s blogging without comments,” is his nutshell summary. The principle is simple: tell your friends what you are doing in 140 characters or less, so you need to keep it short and easy to read!

It’s a very clear interface because “the more options you have, the less usable it is, and the less it will be used,” as Williams explains.

After his brief presentation, someone in the audience dared to ask: “Would you consider Seesmic - the new website created by Loïc Le Meur - as a partner or a competitor?” Everyone laughed - among them Le Meur, who was on stage next to Williams. Both agreed: “One can focus on text and the other on video, no problem.” That is the terrible world of the internet: at first you get to know each other, and afterwards, you might become competitors.”
