Krim was born with a passion for data processing. After graduating from the Télécom Paris school, he started a career in journalism and worked for the French business daily La Tribune.

In 1999, he launched MPTrois.com - a website dealing with online music using the MP3 format, which soon became generationmp3.com. This first company was a financial failure.

In 2005, Tariq Krim created Netvibes, a RSS feed agregator. Netvibes now claims 10 million users worldwide (half in the US).

He was the first Frenchman to receive the TR35 prize in the Internet category from Technology Review. The priz was created to reward innovative young people under 35.

According to Loïc Le Meur, “Krim is now one of the ten most important businessmen - and one of the few French Web people - to count in the United States. If he was American, he would be a hero.”
