Loïc Le Meur paid a surprise visit to his hard-working LeWeb3 staff on Monday afternoon. Along with his wife Géraldine, he visited the “docks” where the two-day conference will take place to check if everything was on track for the “big show”. His technicians and collaborators had been working hard since the morning.

We bumped into Loïc and his wife at about 3pm after their check on “the networking dock” where participants will have informal conversations. Apparently they were satisfied with the way things were going on in there.

Relaxed and smiling, Loïc invited us to check with him if everything was ready inside the main hall, called the “Plenary dock,” which will be used for speeches and debates. What is striking when you enter this hall is that it is “super-sized”. It holds a huge stage, a huge digital screen and a huge gallery of about 1,300 comfortable red seats.

“We spent about 1 million euros for the event”, Loïc said proudly. “You won’t see anything of the kind for a web conference even in the United States. So everything should be perfect by tomorrow”, he repeatedly told his technicians and collaborators.

The visit to the gigantic hall was going well when all of a sudden Loïc’s don’t-worry-be-happy demeanour slipped. The digital boards on the stage with the logo ‘Leweb3′ were not showing up properly. “It’s important that it show when someone takes a picture of a speaker. Otherwise, nobody will know that it took place at LeWeb3!”. Nothing could be done to change that loophole. Anyway…

With 9 km of cable unrolled, sound and light effects finalized, the wi-fi system usable, and David Gueta’s Love don’t let me go on the sound system… everything is now quasi-perfect for Loïc’s show à l’américaine to begin.
