Dan RoseIt’s not easy to become a “friend” with Dan Rose. It’s rather paradoxical that the vice-president of Facebook can’t be easily found on the Web. Perhaps it’s because “Dan Rose” is such a common name in the US. A better explanation could be that Rose is careful about his privacy on the Web. On his Facebook profile, Rose “only” lists around 400 friends, just as many as on his LinkedIn network. And most of his “friends” working for the social-networking company.

Unlike Facebook’s CEO, living legend Marck Zuckerberg, Rose has a more classic background. He graduated from the University of Michigan Business School and from Harvard in 1994. Prior to Facebook, Rose was the director of Digital Media and Management, Wireless Products & Services at Amazon.com (1999-2004). He was responsible for worldwide business development and product management. Prior to Amazon.com, Rose developed and managed strategic alliances for a privately-held financial services firm.

Dan Rose is one of the brains behind Facebook’s expansion and alliances strategy, the latest example being a partnership ABC, the US TV channel. It’s a premiere between the student-born social network and a news organization.

We know very little about Dan Rose’s life when he’s out of work. Except the fact he likes “getting back in touch.” With his true friends, probably.
